October 25, 2005 -- The Lost Boys Of Penzance reach out and touch a music critic in Brazil. Fernando Rosa, aka Sr. F, is one of the most respected music journalists in Brazil. His review of the Beyond The Sea album is posted on his online music 'zine (click here). Rosa wrote: "A new thing in terms of compilations of the genre is the featuring of a Neil Young song, 'Cinnamon Girl', in a version of the group The Lost Boys of Penzance. By their names, the bands come from several countries, especially Europe, USA and Latin America. The cool thing is that most bands are not very well-known among the 'hot shots' of modern instrumental sound. And all of them have great technical quality and great ideas when choosing the songs to be covered and making their arrangements." Yes, we're not well-known nor a "hot shot", but we'll take the props. Thank you, Sr. F!! (And thanks, too, to our friend Claudao of the Brazilian band Estrume'n'tal for his English translation of the Portugeuse.)
September 24, 2005 -- LBOP Music & Publishing and The Lost Boys Of Penzance salute Phil Dirt This evening, Phil Dirt retired from broadcasting at KFJC 89.7 FM after 25+ years of broadcasting service to the station. Most of Phil's time was spent showcasing surf rock music. Phil's final show this evening was a 4-hour extended edition and a loving tribute to the genre. Included in Phil's playlist for this bittersweet event was The Disadvantages Of You by The Lost Boys Of Penzance. The LBOP boys are honored. Click here for an audio (MP3) clip. The surf music community is indebted to Phil Dirt for his expertise and tireless efforts in promoting surf rock music and its musicians. LBOP Music & Publishing and The Lost Boys Of Penzance wish Phil the best in his future endeavors.

June 27, 2005 -- The LBOP band submitted their version of Neil Young's Cinnamon Girl to Cordelia Records in the UK today, just three days before the submission deadline. The Cordelia Records Beyond The Sea project is a compilation CD of various surf-instro artists from around the world who put their own spin on decidedly unsurf-like cover songs. The LBOP boys had a challenge to surf'ize Neil Young's classic rock song that originally featured mondo dirty guitar tones. LBOP rose to the challenge and the track is now in the hands of Cordelia.
